The Grape Hyacinths

Grape hyacinths (Muscari botryoides) is a plant of the asparagus family (Asparagaceae) or family hyacinth (Hyacinthaceae). The flowers are close together, and are almost spherical. The lower flowers are nodding, and the soft top positions. The latter usually without stamens or pistil. The flowers are blue with a white border or completely white.


The grape hyacinths are originally from the Mediterranean and Asia Minor. This plant is mainly in the warmer parts of central Europe become overgrown and is now growing between the orchards and vineyards. The plant grows in the Netherlands mainly in grasslands, and along dune areas, but is also found in the forest and the meadow.
